After canceling their 2009 season, the Arena Football League has shut down entirely and appears headed for bankruptcy. Earlier this week, the league office released a short statement indicated that it had ceased operations because owners were \”unable to reach any consensus on restructuring the league over the past eight months.\” The league had reached a new agreement with players earlier this year, but was unable to convince enough owners that they had a viable plan to return to profitability. The leagues statement continued that there are no other viable options available to the league right now.\”

Even before the decision was made to cancel the 2009 season this past December, it had been a tumultuous off-season for the Arena Football League. It began with the resignation of long time AFL commissioner David Baker just two days before the Arena Bowl championship game. Though Baker put a positive spin on his resignation saying that he felt it was time, the timing was curious despite his insistence that it was due to \”personal reasons\”.

In October, the owner of the New Orleans VooDoo announced that the team would cease operations\”despite being one of the league leaders in attendance. In announcing that the team would fold, owner Tom Benson (who also owns the NFL Saints) suggested that the end of the five year old franchise was in no way an indictment of the New Orleans market. Instead, he cryptically explained that it was due to circumstances currently affecting the league and the team.\”

With a dispersal draft planned to reassign the VooDoo personnel, uncertainty began to reign over the leagues future. The dispersal draft was scheduled and postponed several times amid assurances from the AFL office that rumors of financial instability were unfounded. The most recent announcement finally put all of the speculation to rest.

The inability to get any consensus on a business model for the league reportedly served as the final nail in the AFLs coffin. A major problem was skyrocketing player salaries, and some sort of compensation system tied to team revenues was a necessity. A bigger schism was left between several factions of owners\”primarily drawn along lines of overall wealth.

Despite the demise of the Arena Football League, it wont be the end of the road for the twenty two year old sport. The 50 yard indoor war lives on in the AF2 league which, ironically, was originally started as something of a developmental organization for the AFL. The league plays in smaller markets and has a more realistic salary structure. A number of current AFL players\”and possibly a couple of AFL franchises\”could end up in AF2.

Today the holiday movie season goes into high gear.

My friends are all going to see \”Avatar\” this weekend, and plan to go with my husband as well. I haven\’t been this excited about seeing a movie for a long time. Plus it helps that Clayton was concertmaster for the soundtrack – which means he led the orchestra from the first violin chair.

A movie\’s name and release date add up to numbers. These will either help or hinder its success at the box office.

With \”Avatar\” director James Cameron has hit the jackpot once again.

Avatar is being released today, 12.18.2009, which adds up to 23/5. This is a really great number for attracting a huge amount of people.

The number 23 represents a powerful frequency – \’The Royal Star of the Lion.\’ This means \’Avatar\’ will have a lingering and lasting impression on movie goers and will enjoy a long run in movie theaters.

As for the important title, the name \’Avatar\’ adds up to 15/6, another highly fortunate number.

15 symbolizes the spiritual magician and alchemy. It is a powerfully magnetic vibration and attracts prosperity effortlessly.

Yes, a 15 current name forecasts that Avatar, with it\’s depiction of a magical, lushly tropical, alien world, will weave its magic on moviegoers. Like James Cameron\’s last blockbuster film \’Titanic\’, expect long lines at the box office.

Other movies being released today have the same great release date going for them too, but are hampered by challenging names.

\’Nine\’ adds up to 16/7. And from Britain \’The Young Victoria\’ is a 34/7 name. Both won\’t be lasting too long. However, next week\’s \’It\’s Complicated\’ with Meryl Streep and Steve Martin will also benefit from a great name and release date.

I look forward to enjoying the new world James Cameron has created for us.

I had the honor of watching 30 straight minutes of the movie with Live symphony orchestra at Fox Studios back in August, and I can tell you \’Avatar\’ is an absolutely incredible visual experience. Enjoy!

I think that getting a magazine subscription is so convenient because then you do not have to run to the store to buy one. And if you have ever bought one at a store you know that the price is twice, if not three times as much as you would normally pay for a magazine through a company.

The down fall of getting the subscription is that you will have to wait until it comes in the mail. A lot of people do not even like to use what people call \”snail mail\”. If it was not for people not knowing how to use a computer then they would probably do away with snail mail.

There are times when I can not help myself and I have to get the magazine as soon as I see it and then I decide not to get the subscription. I really need to stop buying from a store because it costs about five dollars or more and I can get twelve of them for the price I would pay for five of them in the store.

The reason I enjoy getting a magazine subscription is because they are so cheap. I like to find out about what is going on in the world and new gadgets that people are coming out with. I also love to see the new breeds of pets that there is out now.

Magazines cost so much more in the store that they do through the company. I guess this is because it is more convenient to buy them in a store. Magazines are very informative and are worth getting if you make sure you enjoy what you are getting.

With all the varieties of magazines you should give magazine subscription a try before you decide to go out and waste money on magazines in the store that are so much more money. Find something you like and I am sure they make a magazine about it.

Magscriber is a great place where you can choose a wide array of magazine titles for magazine subscriptions . Visit the site online to know more.

Are you trying to raise capital for your business? Have you been turned down by institutional lenders for loans and corporate lines of credit? Why deal with the hassle and embarrassment of perpetual declines and risk losing your business because of lack of cash? Wouldn\’t it be great to raise capital quickly and easily for your company without constantly having to fill out scores of credit applications to stay afloat?

The important thing to realize is that if you are a small or medium size business and even if you are a start-up you can take your company public on OTCBB. When going public you really have two viable options: first, most people consider the IPO, but very few qualify because of the necessity of massive amounts of capital in reserve, SOX 404, extensive time in business and finding a broker dealer to take you through the process; the second option is taking your company public OTCBB (over the counter bulletin boards), this process is inexpensive, lightning fast, minimal qualifications and offers start-ups and small/medium size business the ability to raise gargantuan amounts of capital from investors worldwide.

There is no other way to go public on a legitimate platform. With Pink Sheets and Reverse Mergers you\’ll only get burned so buyer beware! Are you short on cash? A popular mechanism for raising the initial capital to go public via OTCBB is by using a Private Placement Memorandum (Regulation D Rule 504) with a built in mini/maxi.

Right when you hit that minimum you can start using capital to grow your company while simultaneously initiating the \’going public\’ process.

The moral of this story…even if you\’re a startup or small business owner you can raise capital by going public! Get informed and get funded.

The Last Time I Saw Archie – Webb’s single try at comedy is less foolish than some of his more solemn films; a shame, since William Bowers’ script-based on his own Army experiences had true potential, and Mitchum pleasantly underplays as the con guy. By the way, the genuine Archie Chamber sued for invasion of privacy. Cast includes Robert Mitchum, Jack Webb, Martha Hyer, France Nuyen, Louis Nye, Richard Arlen, Don Tangles, Joe Flynn, and Robert Strauss. (98 minutes, 1961)

With Halloween on the way, many of us are thinking about getting your costume. We always wanted to have a great Halloween by dressing up on a theme in mind. It could be something that is glamorous, scary, sexy or even going out with more than one costume.

If you decide to make your own costume, the problem comes to be deciding on which costume design you should make. You can often draw inspiration from popular culture- such as movies, books, magazines, and trivia that has become popular in the past year

Sadly, many stores are sold out of the good costumes by the time Halloween comes around. The case leaves you in a situation where you either have to get creative or end up with something you never really wanted to begin with. Everyone wants to avoid this whenever possible, but our busy lives and our indecisiveness sometimes get in the way.

Looking on the Internet, you can usually find a great costume at a great price. While renting is efficient, since you might not want to wear the same costume every Halloween, finding a good price may make it just as cost effective to buy one.

When deciding where to buy your costume, be it on the Internet or in a local shop, make sure the store offers everything you will need to make your costume perfect, just the way you want it. If a shop doesn’t have the items you want, keep looking.

You’ll want to choose a shop that not only offers the costume itself, but all the makeup and other accessories you want to complete your disguise. Going the extra distance will make for a more complete costume, and you’ll be a lot happier with the results.

The most unique thing about Chinese script is that they are in fact ideas expressed through the symbols or characters rather than letters forming words with phonetics. The writing script which is known as Hans uses a huge number of 47,035 characters which are actually symbols and are put together in Chinese dictionary called Kangxi. In reality most of these character symbols have become outdated.

The concept of peace holds a very special place in the Chinese symbols. The peace as perceived by Chinese character symbols is more of the feeling of happiness in the heart of the people rather than absence of war. They believe that this is what the human race is actually looking for.

The best thing the Chinese symbols offers to human race is the symbolization of peace. We all have our personal ways of acquiring peace. Some people will do something as absurd as bungee jumping if it gives peace where as some will repent in front of God to attain it. Chinese people also have their own way of achieving peace.

The Chinese believe that the ancient symbols hold the virtue of attracting positive things and they use them very often to get good fortune. Peace is something we all desire and the use of the peace symbol is very widespread throughout China.

You may speculate how the Chinese people attempt to use this symbol of peace. The history of China shows plainly how the Chinese people as a nation used the peace symbol. They have used the symbol of peace by surrounding themselves with it to achieve peace in their own hearts rather than anything else.

The use of symbols is rather common in China to attract good fortune as you will find the character of peace symbols are not the only ones to be used extensively in China but many home, offices, shops and cars have good fortune and blessing symbols too.

Today the Chinese peace symbol is amongst the most popular characters used not only in China but also around the world. The west is particularly infatuated with Chinese symbols and peace being a universally appealing idea is right on top of the list.

As it is the concept of peace is considered to be cool in the eyes of the western youth. When the same concept is represented in the shape of a Chinese symbol that looks amazing because of the way it is composed the symbol gains even more credibility and appeal. Hence we find a wide range of fashion accessories and clothing gear featuring the Chinese peace symbol and selling like hot cakes in the western world.

But it is to be remembered that the Chinese have their own perception of peace as compared to the west from these symbols and this belief is what they have been following since ancient times.

Chinese peace symbols are simple yet elegant. If you would like to learn more about Chinese calligraphy symbols click on the links herein.

The Beatles studio albums were first digitally remastered and released on CD in the late 80s at that time digital mastering for CD was still a new art and since that time a lot has been found out about how to do it best but even more important is the incredible rate in technological advance over the past 20 years.

The many advances in digital technology and all of the knowledge learned on how to most effectively remaster original analog tapes digitally have been put to use with the Beatles remasters of 2009. On September 9, 2009 The Beatles released both The Beatles in Stereo and The Beatles in Mono. And both remastered box sets sound great. If you’ve yet to hear ‘em, I recommend you get your hands on The Beatles remasters as soon as you can.

Which flavor of Beatles remastered should a fan order? Well for me the answer was simple: “all of the above” but if you can only afford you’ll most likely want to go with the stereo box set because it includes all of their studio albums and most folks do want to listen to the stereo versions more than the mono.

The Beatles in Mono is more for hardcore fans who want to hear all of the differences between the stereo & mono mixes (and with some songs they are really quite different) and for fans who want to hear the lads from Liverpool how they originally listened to them (this obviously applies to the original fans who were around for The Beatles in the flesh back in the’60s.)

As of December 8, 2009 there’s a third choice: The Beatles USB. This USB flash drive contains The Beatles in Stereo Box Set in a little thing that fits in the palm of my hand. Isn’t that cool? It holds all of their albums in 2 formats; better than CD quality 24bit FLAC and 320kbps mp3s.

It’s the “better than CD quality” thing is what will excite the audiophiles but for casual fans it is the mp3s that’ll that’ll be added to the iPod.

Harold Laurence Quesenberry recommends this Beatles Store for all of your Beatles shopping needs. There’s plenty of other Beatles stuff available besides The Beatles Mono & Stereo Remastered Box Sets.

When you know how to set a table you are saying something about yourself. You are telling others that you are educated and have class. You are telling them that you care about them, and are going through the extra effort to make a fine meal with fine surroundings. Setting a table is more than just throwing a dinner set onto a table. It’s a ritual that shows you are sophisticated. In this article we will outline the steps required to set a dinner table.

Here Are the Basics

These basics will help you to get started to setting a great dinner table. You can just leave it there, or build on the basics depending on how formal a gathering you are planning to have.

a) For starters you need to determine how many people are going to attend your little gathering. The rule is one place setting per person, so ensure that you have enough space (and chairs) to accommodate them.

b) Place the dinner plate in the center of the place setting. Everything else will go around the focal point of this dinner plate.

c) The flatware (i.e.: fork, knife and spoon) will be arranged around the dinner plate in the order in which it will be used. The fork is placed to the left of the plate, while the knife and spoon are placed to the right. The knife is placed right next to the plate with the cutting edge pointed inwards. To the immediate right of the knife is the spoon.

d) The water glass now needs a home. It goes directly above the knife.

e) Place napkins (if you have them) under the forks.

Informal Dinner Setting

For an informal dinner party you merely need to start with the basics, and add to them. Here are a few pointers to keep in mind:

a) If you are going to serve a salad, the salad fork is placed to the left of the dinner fork that you laid down during the basics.

b) Do you plan on serving soup? If so, the soup bowl goes directly on top of the dinner plate. The soup spoon goes to the right of the spoon that you put into position during the basics.

c) Salad or bread and butter knifes go down next. They go directly to the left of the forks. If you have butter plates, they go directly above the dinner plate. Put the butter knife directly on top of the butter plate.

d) You will need a cup and saucer if you plan on serving coffee or tea. They go directly above the spoons, and the handle of the cup should point to the right. Water or wine glasses go to the left of the coffee cup.

Formal Dinner Settings

You have now graduated to the formal dinner setting. This dinner setting is the most elaborate of all, but don’t worry, we have you covered. All you need to do is follow the steps for an informal dinner setting, and add a few more steps. Here’s what you need to know:

a) Are you planning on serving both white and red wines? If so, you will need two wine glasses per place setting. They go next to the water glass.

b) Immediately to the right of the knife go the beverage, soup, or dessert spoons. If you like, they can be brought to the table when the soup or dessert is being served.

c) A centerpiece is always nice. Look around for an appropriate one, or if you are artistic you could craft your own. It goes directly in the center of the table.

That’s it! You are done. Sit back and look at your dinner set, accessories, and fine handiwork. It all looks so nice don’t you think? Cook up some great food, and place it on the table, and let the partying begin!

Nutcracker the Motion Picture – Much of this interpretation of The Nutcracker, acted by the Pacific Norhtwest Ballet, is like a music video with rapid cutting and close-ups of legs, faces, and elbows. This is tremendously irritating. However the Tchaikovsky music is, obviously, amazing, as are Maurice Sendak’s sets and costumes. Cast includes Hugh Bigney, Vanessa Sharp, Patricia Barker, Wade Walthall, Russell Burnett, and the voice of Julie Harris. (89 minutes,’86)

Ace Ventura, Pet Detective – This movie is directed by Tom Shadyac. This is a typically wild Jim Carey comedy. He is cast as Ace Ventura, a pet detective. The mascot of the Miami Dolphins has been kidnapped, and it is up to Ace Ventura to crack the case. Jim Carrey, Courtney Cox. And Sean Young star. (1994 Comedy)

Cuba Crossing – Our lead man Stuart Whitman becomes mixed up in a conspiracy to take out Fidel Castro. Filmed in Key West, Florida, and at minimum the landscape is beautiful. Cast includes Stuart Whitman, Robert Vaughn, Caren Kaye, Raymond St. Jacques, Woody Strode, Sybil Danning, Albert Salmi, and Michael Gazzo. (90 minutes,’80)

The In Laws – Everyone can relate to this difficult situation. The in laws are coming and you just have to endure. Do not try this at home! Unrated version runs 93. Cast includes Peter Falk, Alan Arkin, Richard Libertini, and Nancy Dussault. (103 minutes,’64)

The Music of Chance – A thriller in regards to clairvoyant, suicidal Ivanek, powerless to command his powers, who moves his bad dreams to shrink Harrold and causes disarray in a clinic. Cast includes James Spader, Mandy Patinkin, M. Emmett Walsh, Charles Durning (98 minutes,’93)

Barnyard – Energized zaniness set on a farm where, after sundown, the animals turn the barn into a noisy nightclub. James is Otis, a young cow who is very grown-up, much to the disappointment of his dad, Ben Elliott, who keeps watch for preying coyotes when the others party. Dom Irrera stands out as Duke the Dog. Cast includes Courtney Cox, Sam Elliott, Danny Glover, Wanda Sykes, Andie MacDowell, David Koechner, and Laraine Newman. (90 minutes, 2006)

Every music service is going to have its good as well as its bad points. You need to make certain that you go through all the good and the bad points of a website before you begin downloading tunes from their projected service.
